Hello!
I’m Vivian Parkin DeRosa.
My favorite thing to do is write books, and I’m currently working on a coming-of-age story. My writing has appeared in the Huffington Post and Poets Reading the News, and I was a 2019 Presidential Scholar in the Arts.
I’m from the Jersey Shore, but I’m currently in Massachusetts for college. (This means that I am constantly cold and constantly reading.) I’m currently the prose editor for the Ideate Review.
I blog about writing to remember that it’s fun, which I sometimes lose track of during my fourth draft of my book. Luckily, my second favorite thing after writing is editing. (That’s a lie. My second favorite thing is probably shopping. But I’m trying to shop less because I own too much clothing & college is expensive & fast fashion isn’t environmentally-friendly & I need the Earth to stop burning so we can live long enough for Lorde to drop her third album. So let’s just lie a little bit, which is the basis for all good writing, and say that my second favorite thing is editing.)
So now I’m rewriting my novel, squeezing in my unrealistic goal of reading 52 books a year between college classes, and trying to take joy in the little things, like corduroy newsboy caps and upcoming elections.
I tried to write a list of other things that seemed important for you to know about me, but it sort of dissolved into a list of women who I think are cool:
I think that even more than love for language and books, your hate for fake pockets might be what makes me relate the most. And of course your first draft despair. Hang in there, you can’t jump high without something to kick off from.

You blog just brims w/ life, Vivian! How amazing that you should already have written a book — even the first draft of a book — at so young an age. I wish you happiness and success — both in the literary world and outside it. Oh, and thank you for your follow. I hope I can live up to your expectations. ❤

All first drafts give the writer the ecstatic feeling of completion and the utter misery of ‘edits pending’ – you will get through it. My writing group supports writers any age, any stage of their writing career. Pop over & take a look http://www.wfscsherwoodpark.com – we have local & virtual members around the world.
Good luck with the revision – it is a journey and you learn as you walk (or write) that path.

Truly an amazing blog. You had me at fake pockets. hahahahaha!!!
Excellent blog. Everything is clear and shows who you are as a person and a poet with such ambitions. Two-thumbs up! on eccentrics. I, too am eccentric. My poetry works actually show that quirky imagination. 🙂
I’d like to thank you for stopping by and reading my Bio. Did you actually read my Bio? Also, thank you for following my page. I shall read your work of poetry soon.

I love fashion too, my fashion style is a weird mix. I guess it can be described as Edgy innocence, if that makes sense. Sometimes I look really edgy, sometimes really sweet and innocent, and sometimes both. Congrats on writing your first draft! Whenever I try to write a book I can never stick with an idea. I really love all the pictures on your blog, they look really professional. I’m so glad that my blog led me to your blog!

Hii! I just found your blog and I love it so so much 🙂 It’s great that you’re a believer in self-confidence, and also that you write books with adult characters; I think it’s quite refreshing. I thought I’d just drop you a comment to let you know I adore your writing.

What a fun blog! I’m one of those adults, but I love teens. I, in fact, have one of my own and think teens are hilarious, wonderful, moody, complex, and all of that. Actually, I love all ages, 0-100! People are so interesting to me.
Anyhow, I wish you the very best, and I love, love, love your pink typewriter! In my day, we’d say, “It’s da bomb!”

What a great “About Me” page. 🙂 I hopped over here from Marie’s SFATW blog-hopping post. 🙂 I’ll be checking out the rest of your blog too. A first draft is called a first draft for a reason. 🙂 I don’t know of any writer whose first drafts are phenomenal. Good for you for reminding yourself that first drafts can be shitty. 🙂 And good luck with the revisions!

Every time I visit your blog I remember how aesthetic it is, and how much I want my blog to be like yours (Not trying to copy you or anything 😀 )
Also have you been watching the most recent season of Project Runway? What do you think? What do you think bout the twins?
I recently got a Project Runway branded sewing machine (I don’t really care so much about the brand per-say but that doesn’t make it less cool) for my birthday and I’m so excited to use it (I just have to figure out how lol)

Aw, thank you so much! I love your blog as well!!
I have been! I love the new models…what a refreshing and fun change! I think a lot of the designers are really good. The twins seem to have some fun design ideas, but all the other contestants seem to think that it’s ‘cheating’ how much they help each other, so I guess we’ll see haha. What do you think?
THAT IS SO COOL! I wish I could sew. You could be the next famous designer lol!!

I love the new models too! I don’t mind the twins designs per say but I think they can be a little annoying (like when they keep saying indeed lol)
And lol thanks, but I don’t have a ton of experience with sewing so I guess I’ll just learn as I go. XD maybe I could be the next famous designer
